Colon Hydrotherapy

Colon hydrotherapy is the evacuation of the colon (large intestine) to empty/cleanse it of its contents with filtered water.

  1. Upon arrival you will find the office comfortable with a home like atmosphere and feel. You will be greeted with a cup of herbal tea infused with magnesium.
  2. You will then proceed to our fully furnished gym room for a bounce on our Soft-Bounce™ Needak® Rebounder for 15 minutes.
  3. The appointment then turns to medical history, treatment assessment, an evaluation of any contraindications and nutritional support. Here at the Colon Therapy Health and Education Centre we see each and every client as an individual with individual needs and this part of the appointment addresses those needs.
  4. Next, you will move to the treatment room, where the Angel of Water® CM-1 colon hydrotherapy system will be explained to you. The presentation shows you the path of the water, the carbon and U.V. filters, and the tank, which delivers approximately 45 litres (12 gallons) of filtered water during the treatment. You will also see the sterilized disposable nozzle and learn how it will be inserted into your anal canal.
  5. The nurse will then leave the room while you undress from the bottom down. You will be covered with a sheet during the treatment. You will have been instructed before your appointment to wear a comfortable top. This will be followed by an abdominal massage.
  6. You then recline on the ergonomically comfortable Angel of Water® CM-1 colon hydrotherapy system, positioning yourself over the basin. To help you relax, a cotton ball soaked in an aromatic essential oil called “Let Go” will be placed by your head. This helps to calm the digestive tract and balance emotions.
  7. The nurse will then insert the nozzle, making sure that you are feeling comfortable and relaxed. With your permission, the nurse will massage the colon area throughout the session.
  8. You and the nurse can control a flow switch so that a gravity-fed stream of temperature-controlled filtered water passes through your colon. Water flow can be stopped at any time by simply turning the flow switch off. The tank line to the basin nipple, to which the nozzle is attached, has a backflow prevention valve as a permanent plumbing safety feature. This prevents water from flowing back into the line once it has passed through the nipple into the nozzle.
  9. The system utilizes the principle of gravity to introduce the water that irrigates your colon, stimulating natural peristaltic function and assisting in the elimination of gas, fecal matter, and mucus from the colon. The controlled pressure created by gravity as water exits the elevated tank in the tower cabinet is activated by the flow switch. The procedure can be stopped at any time by simply turning off the flow switch to stop the gravity-fed stream of water, or you can simply slide back off the nozzle.
  10. During the treatment, with your permission, the nurse will also give you a gentle massage and apply pressure to acupressure points in order to assist the body to release wastes. You will take part by actively pushing gently to help release feces into the open basin.
  11. During the treatment, the nurse also talks to you about how to build on the benefits you will obtain from the colonic. You will be taught the skills you need, including some special physical exercise tips, to help you to have normal daily bowel movements. Later, you are also provided with reading material and homework to help prepare you for any subsequent visits.
  12. At the end of the session, you slide back off the nozzle, and you can sit up or lean back in a lounge position to fully drain your colon.
  13. Next, you are given a rectal implant of Quinton Isotonic Plasma, an essential part of any colon hydrotherapy treatment, which helps restore electrolyte balance and ensure the replacement of healthy flora in the colon. Quinton Plasma, produced by Quinton America , remineralizes and reenergizes. It is a solution of ocean water that has been collected in zones free of pollution, and then sterilized. This sea water contains all the minerals and trace elements in the same proportions as they occur in blood plasma. Quinton Plasma promotes cell nutrition, regulates homeostasis, and stimulates metabolic function. Recently we added a specialized probiotic implant to our total treatment. This maximizes the benefits of the treatment to their fullest. (see #16)
  14. After this, you can rinse off using a personal shower sprayer, and then towel yourself dry before dressing.
  15. The hydrotherapy treatment takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the individual.
  16. Acidophilus and Quinton Isotonic Plasma are also given orally to help restore a good balance of healthy flora, as well as remineralize and energize. Note that the elimination of wastes also allows your bowel to produce and maintain healthy flora.
  17. Clients are welcome to use our SaunaRay Far Infrared Sauna, which provides the highest quality experience with toxin-free cabinets and medical-grade heaters. Showers are available for use afterwards.
  18. When you leave, you will be given, with your permission, a hug!
  19. The Colon Therapy Health & Education Centre does a report and sends the documentation to your doctor if required.

Preparation for Gastroenterology

Colon hydrotherapy is a valuable modality for patients who are preparing for gastroenterological procedures. This therapy effectively cleanses the entire colon to facilitate diagnostic studies—sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy—and shortens the time required for the physician to evaluate the colon. Just as with preparations using laxatives, colon hydrotherapy is not appropriate for every patient. The nurse can evaluate the individual case during an initial assessment. To prepare for these medical procedures, you will be given special instructions to follow.
