Carla Roter, Director
Author of “The Gentle Colonoscopy,” Carla Greenspan
Roter’s motto “Live, Love, Laugh!” truly speaks volumes about her approach and perspective. This is the motto Carla lives by; for herself, her family, and everyone she meets. In fact, it is impossible not to be affected by her incredible enthusiasm, genuine smile, warmth and spirit.
Carla dreamt of 'healing the world' ever since she was a child.
She followed that path to become a nurse in her native Montreal. There and in her travels to the UK she worked in
a number of very difficult roles including in high-risk psychiatric wards and with the terminally ill. In spite of a predominant culture of professional distance and superiority, Carla was a favourite among patients for her warmth and humanity, even in extreme circumstances.
Shifting her career focus, Carla had two children; George, who was born in Montreal and Raphi who was born in Toronto. The family then moved to Toronto in 1976 where she began to channel her need to heal the word into creating a musical clown show. It became quite successful and even played at the Poor Alex and Young People’s Theatre in Toronto. Incredibly uplifting, funny and deeply honest, her `clowning` brought smiles and joy to many people.
Carla’s ability to use humour to help people gently face difficult or frightening situations is outstanding. Early on, she came to understand what the health care field is only now rediscovering; that
laughter is an important ingredient in health and healing. She has great success in helping people of all ages relax and feel deeply reassured throughout their healing process. Her `bedside manner` is as legendary as it is hilarious, while still managing to be professional and informative. Carla’s ability to deliver clear instructions, patiently explain directions and help her clients feel soothed as well as informed is just one of her many strengths.
Despite leading a fulfilling life, she once again changed career paths, only this time it wasn’t by choice.
She fell extremely ill from mercury poisoning and Candida. The silver lining of this sickness was that she was lead to complementary medicine and specifically colon hydrotherapy.
Throughout her illness, Carla was misdiagnosed, over-prescribed and not listened to. It was only though working with Homeopath Dr. Andre Sain and Dr. Carolyn Dean that Carla began to recover.
Here she was introduced to colon hydrotherapy.
Carla's passion as a caregiver once again took to the fore as she studied to become a colon
hydrotherapist. She quickly became an active advocate for the treatment, especially after experiencing first hand the dramatic positive results. Carla has working tirelessly to bring accountability and recognition to the field ever since. This has been a hard battle as there is much misinformation, a general mistrust of colon hydrotherapy amongst health care professionals and many colonic therapists do not have sufficient medical credentials. In spite of this, Carla, who is an R.P.N., created a Colon Hydrotherapy Association. She also designed course work to train nurses and other health care professionals in colon hydrotherapy. She has trained over 30 nurses at her own Colon Hydrotherapy
School of Canada and continues to be an advocate for high standards, a humane and gentle approach as well as greater overall transparency in the community.
Alongside Carla's drive to promote colon hydrotherapy and bring high standards to the field, she has also run her own clinic, delivering an irreplaceable service complete with follow-up care in over 10, 000
treatments. As with every other pursuit, Carla's guiding principle is “Live, Love Laugh” and she tries to make good on that with each treatment, often becoming much, much more then a health care provider to her clients. Just read some of her testimonials! Men and women of all ages, elderly as well as children have been treated by her. Carla opens her arms to the people who walk through her door.
You may start out as a client; however, you leave as a friend.
A third dimension to Carla's pursuit of excellence in the field is innovation. She has modified her approach and apparatus many times over the years in a quest to give the most effective and safe colon hydrotherapy treatment possible. With over 25 years of trials she has created an optimal and successful process. It is a holistic approach which takes into account many dietary and lifestyle factors.
Her commitment to ongoing research and decades of clinical experience makes Carla an authority on natural colon health. Her methods are safe, complimentary with allopathic medicine and have a high success ratio which truly sets her apart as a leading professional in her field.
She not only has extensive experience, Carla has also been consistently training with the best in the field. She has spent decades staying on top of the latest research, attending seminars in the United
States and studying alongside various nutrition therapists and other health care professionals. Carla even refreshed her RPN training once in Toronto. She has also done research into holistic approaches which complement the allopathic modality. This has helped her create a truly well rounded approach which has been praised by many in the medical field.
Most recently, Carla has renewed her mission to assist the field of colon hydrotherapy in gaining credibility and standards. Performing over 500 preps, she has perfected a process of alternative
preparation for colonoscopy and has converted her system into using 100% isotonic solution. This can be found outlined in her book “The Gentle Colonoscopy.”
Since colonoscopies can be a scary and uncomfortable procedure tending to cause people to feel ill, Carla was greatly motivated to find a way to help people get through it in the gentlest way possible that also reduces feeling sick throughout the procedure. Thus, she wrote an easy to follow book detailing the process which can be found on Amazon, Scribd and her website.
She is now refocusing on lecturing, sharing a lifetime of experience and information with others.
She also continues to improve the lives of her clients and 'heal the world' one colonic, one laugh and one hug at a time.
